Mid-season review
As the 2026 season reaches its halfway point, the team once again confirms its status as one of the leading teams in European Renault Clio competition.
With impressive performances in both the Clio Cup Series and the Copa Clio España, the team has consistently fought at the front of the field, collecting victories, podium finishes and valuable championship points. Thanks to the commitment of the drivers, engineers, mechanics and the entire GPA Racing staff, the first part of the season has been filled with success and exciting battles that promise an unforgettable conclusion.
A thrilling fight for the Clio Cup Series title
The Clio Cup Series has delivered some of the closest racing of the season, and GPA Racing is at the very heart of the championship battle. After four meetings, Damiano Puccetti leads the overall standings with 306 points, but his teammate Alex Finkelstein is only three points behind with 303 points, creating an incredibly close duel that will continue throughout the remainder of the championship. Having two GPA Racing drivers separated by just three points at the top of the standings perfectly reflects the competitiveness of both the team and its drivers.
Just behind them, David Pouget remains fully in contention in fourth position with 269 points. Thanks to several victories and podium finishes since the opening round, he continues to put pressure on the championship leaders and remains a serious title contender for the second half of the season.
Meanwhile, Nicky Taylor has shown constant progression throughout the year and currently sits sixth overall, while Ben Jenkins and Horn continue to gain valuable experience and championship points at every event.
The team's strength is also reflected in the category standings. In the Junior Championship, Damiano Puccetti leads the rankings, confirming his exceptional pace throughout the season. Nicky Taylor has established himself as one of the strongest young drivers on the grid by occupying second place, while Ben Jenkins continues to score important points inside the top ten.
In the Gentlemen Championship, Horn has enjoyed a remarkable campaign and currently leads the category after consistently strong performances across the opening four meetings.
These individual performances naturally translate into the Teams Championship, where GPA Racing comfortably leads the standings with 685 points, opening a significant gap over its closest competitors. This result is the reward for the consistency demonstrated by every member of the team, proving that collective performance remains one of GPA Racing's greatest strengths.
Complete domination in Copa Clio España
While the Clio Cup Series remains fiercely contested, GPA Racing has established itself as the dominant force in the Copa Clio España.
The standout performer is undoubtedly David Pouget, who has produced an extraordinary first half of the season. After eight races, he has achieved the perfect record: eight victories from eight starts, allowing him to lead the championship with the maximum possible 400 points. His consistency, speed and determination have made him the benchmark driver of the championship and place him in an ideal position ahead of the remaining events.
Behind David, GPA Racing continues to occupy the front of the championship with Guillermo Pernía holding second place overall after a series of podium finishes and consistently strong results. Mariano Alonso completes an exceptional collective performance by sitting third in the standings, giving GPA Racing an impressive sweep of the top three positions in the championship.
The team's superiority is equally visible in the Teams Championship, where GPA Racing leads with 881 points, creating a substantial advantage over its rivals thanks to outstanding performances from all three drivers throughout the opening rounds.
A promising second half of the season
With championship leaders in several categories, two drivers battling for the overall Clio Cup Series title, a perfect campaign from David Pouget in Copa Clio España and both Teams Championships currently led by GPA Racing, the first half of the 2026 season has been nothing short of exceptional.
However, the work is far from over. Every race weekend will be crucial as the team continues its pursuit of championship titles across Europe. Driven by passion, determination and the pursuit of excellence, GPA Racing remains fully focused on maintaining this momentum until the final chequered flag.
The entire team would like to thank its partners, supporters and fans for their continued trust throughout the season. We look forward to sharing the excitement of the remaining races and, hopefully, celebrating many more victories together.
